Ro, the leading direct-to-patient healthcare company, has officially announced the launch of a new Ro Operating System, which is designed to deliver seamless, high-quality care journeys for millions of patients. Coming on the back of a six year-long development phase, the stated OS is powered by a proprietary suite of applications, tools, and features, marking a piece of detail that goes a long way in helping it integrate nationwide telehealth, lab and pharmacy services. Talk about the whole value proposition on a slightly deeper level, though, Ro Operating System actually makes a point to full its promise through a set of four different apps i.e. Patient app, Care Delivery app, Pharmacy app, and Lab app. Starting from the Patient app, which is capable of putting patients in control of their care at every possible touchpoint. As for how it does so, the answer resides in its ability to be a single stop for patients, a stop where they can message a provider, report a side effect, track progress, access medical records, manage goals, and do a whole lot more. Next up, we have the Care Delivery app. This one is actually presented as a provider’s homebase for effectively delivering, documenting, and monitoring patient care. Hence, no matter whether the agenda is to counsel a patient, review lab results, make changes to an existing treatment plan, you can bank upon the stated Care Delivery solution and its ability to surface the right information at the right time, scale the provider’s expertise, and support the quality and safety of care.
“The healthcare system is rightly obsessed with quality of care, but doesn’t do as well making it available to everyone who needs it. Too many patients lack convenient access, or any access at all, to care that can help them effectively achieve their health goals,” said Dr. Melynda Barnes, Chief Medical Officer of Ro. “In the ro.OS, we built technology to make high-quality care easier at every step of the journey millions of times over, from a patient getting a lab test, to a provider navigating an EMR, or a pharmacist filling a prescription.”
Moving on to the OS’ dedicated Pharmacy app, this one is focused on integrating pharmacists directly into a patient’s care journey, thus enabling the former to receive real-time patient insights, all for the purpose of coordinating with providers, identifying potential safety concerns, and offering fast and reliable nationwide medication fulfillment. Rounding up highlights for us is, of course, the Lab app. The Lab app in question comes bearing the knowhow to install testing into a patient’s care journey, something which involves connecting them with at-home or in-person options, and offering automated results delivery. Such a setup, like one might guess, goes a long way to ensure that every patient gets a full picture of their health, while simultaneously empowering the provider to take more informed treatment decisions.
Among other details, we must mention how the entire Operating System is supported by clinical evidence and research, ongoing patient feedback, and insights from Ro-affiliated providers, as well as its network of expert clinical advisors.
“Today, high-quality care is a handmade luxury good. As a society, the only way that we have turned luxuries that only a few can access into commodities that everyone can access is through technology. This is what we set out to do at Ro, to build technology that makes it as easy as possible for millions of people to access the most effective healthcare,” said Saman Rahmanian, Chief Product Officer and co-founder of Ro.
